Rosacea is a common chronic skin condition that causes flushing, facial redness and visible blood vessels on your face. It may also produce small red pus filled bumps or pustules. It is most commonly seen in light skin types, middle-aged men and women usually over 30 and have a family history of rosacea. It is most common in females but also seen in males. There is no cure for rosacea but treatment can control and reduce the signs and symptoms.

What causes Rosacea?

The exact cause of Rosacea is unknown, however most experts believe that it may be caused by a number of related factors.

  • Blood vessel abnormalities

  • Demodex mites, higher numbers of these tiny mites have been found on the skin of people with rosacea

  • Genetics

  • Helicobacter pylori bacteria, found in the digestive tract, may stimulate the production of a protein called Bradykinin, which is known to cause blood vessels to expand.
